Matilda was my favorite children's book when I was little. I
would say most of Roald Dahl's children's books are delightful
to read as a young and learning child, for his words are full of
youth, excitement, adventure, humor and warmth. I absolutely
love this book because it felt like I was transformed into
another world while reading it. It is so unreal but at the same
time, you want to find out what happens next.
Matilda was born as an unwanted child in her family. However,
at the age of 5, she was able to read adult novels and
intellectual books that her parents wouldn't even dream of
touching. She is able to calculate long math problems in her
head and is generally an extremely bright and unusual child. Her
parents don't care much about her and often leave her at home
alone, taking with them their son only. So, the public library
soon becomes Matilda's second home. With enough pleading and
arguing, Matilda is sent to school where she has hoped to learn
more and develop. She meets new friends, a kind teacher called
Ms. Honey and the cruelest of all principals, Ms. Trunchbull.
Upon going to school, Matilda discovers a magical side within
her that not even she knows about. In this new school year,
Matilda is not only about to embark upon an educational journey;
she is in for the adventure of her life!
Matilda
is truly hilarious and unpredictable, perfect for a leisure time
read. I chose this book to read because I'd heard from many that
Roald Dahl is an incredibly amazing author and surely, it is
only the truth. He brings life to a child's mind and creates
fantasy stories that they can only dream about. I highly
recommend this book, or basically all of Roald Dahl's children's
books, for young readers.
