Time does pass by fast when you are having fun. The14 days in Australia will be in my mind forever since it was one of the best memories in my life. Everything happened there was amazing. Among all the wonderful things, believe or not, the part that I enjoyed the most was actually the weather in Gold Coast in “summer time”. I am kind of a winter person. I actually preferred the slightly chilly cool breeze there much more than the humid hot summer I would normally get in Hong Kong. The temperature always stayed at a nice range of something from 10 to 20 degree Celsius in Cold Coast.
So the weather was perfect for me. The people in Australia made it even better. My host mom and dad were both 71 years old. They were very nice and kind to me. I watched TV with them almost every evening there, and most of the evenings had been unconventionally fun. We talked about the TV programs, we laughed together. I still remember the prank my host played on my roommate at the swimming pool. There was a swimming pool in the house of my host family. It was winter time in Australia, and naturally the water was icy cold. My friend and I were contemplating at the edge of the pool about whether we should go for a swim. Our host dad pretended to push my friend into the pool, and my friend put up such a vicious and exaggerated fight! We were just like friends. We played pranks on each other. We joked with each other.
Before the trip to Australia, I had no idea what the country was like. I would think maybe it was just like England. It turned out to me more like America in a funny way in my opinion. Everything was of bigger size - what a funny first impression. Of course during the trip I had learnt much more about Australia. I liked the animals there. I had gain more geography knowledge about Australia. Also I had learnt about the “infamous” Australian Jam called “Vegemite”, which in my opinion lived up to its reputation - it is not good at all for people who don’t enjoy strong flavours, despite the fact that the Aussies love it so much.
If I have the chance that I can study overseas in the future, I would definitely take this opportunity, since this is the best way to explore the world. This is one of the best ways to learn. Also it will make me feel less stressful if I study overseas. I am not saying that life is going to be easy just by going overseas, but at least when I feel stressful because of studying, I can relax myself by just walking around trees, looking at the open sky – the illusion of having more freedom and the fact that there are fewer skyscrapers.
